On the 20th of March, the NovoMUN team proudly hosted the IV MiniMUN Conference, organized by the 10thgrade students of Colégio Novo da Maia. This featured two dynamic committees: the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Across three fruitful sessions, delegates worked collaboratively to address NovoMUN’s global theme, “Promoting World Peace Through Post-War Crisis Aversion”, presenting thoughtful and impactful solutions.
Within the ECOSOC committee, delegates tackled the topic “Supporting Economic Resilience in Post-Conflict States”. Through structured debate and negotiation, they drafted a resolution that comprised three key clauses and aimed to strengthen the economies of nations affected by conflict. Their proposals emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the development of sustainable recovery strategies.
Meanwhile, the WHO committee explored the issue “Strengthening Healthcare Systems in Developing Countries”. Although initially reserved, delegates quickly became actively engaged, demonstrating strong commitment and initiative. The committee ultimately produced five excellent clauses, offering practical and forward-thinking measures to improve healthcare accessibility and resilience.
Throughout the conference, participants refined their skills of public speaking, problem-solving, and critical thinking. They concluded the experience better equipped to debate now and lead tomorrow.
